+ Crowns

When a tooth experiences significant decay or another form of damage, our dentist may recommend a crown to repair the tooth. A dental crown, sometimes called a cap, is a restoration that completely covers the tooth, starting at the gums. This restores the damaged tooth to optimal strength, structure, and size. Because dental crowns are created from molds and impressions of your teeth, you can feel confident that your crown will match the shape of your teeth, will blend in beautifully with your smile, and will fit comfortably.

+ Bridges

If you have lost one or more teeth, you have several options available at Carman Family Dentistry for replacing your missing teeth and restoring your smile. One of the options we offer is called a dental bridge. A bridge is used to replace either a single missing tooth or a couple of teeth (usually a maximum of three teeth) in a row. While there are three main types of bridges, the most common is the traditional dental bridge. A traditional bridge consists of an artificial tooth, known as a pontic, and two dental crowns. Our dentist places the crowns on the natural teeth or dental implants adjacent to the gap; these crowns anchor the pontic in place and provide stability to your restoration. Dental bridges are fixed (non-removable) dental restorations and can last for many years.

+ Dental Implants

When you have suffered the loss of one or multiple teeth, your smile does not look or function as it once did. You may feel embarrassed by the gaps left in your smile, and missing teeth can compromise your ability to chew, eat, and speak as normal. To restore your smile, our dentist may recommend dental implants in Endicott, New York. A dental implant is a permanent tooth replacement that replaces both the root and the crown of the missing tooth. First, the implant itself is surgically placed in the jawbone. This serves as an artificial tooth root and gives your restoration stability and strength. After your bone and gum tissues have healed, we attach a restoration on top of the implant post. Depending on which teeth are missing, your implant restoration may be a dental crown, a bridge, a full denture, or a partial denture. This replaces the crown of the missing tooth, or the portion that is visible above the gum line.

+ Periodontics

Your teeth may be the first thing you think of when you think about your dental health, but your gums also play an essential role in your oral health. The gum tissues support your teeth, and healthy gums are an integral part of a healthy smile. Periodontal disease, or gum disease, is a degenerative condition that can compromise your oral health. Caused by bacteria in plaque, periodontal disease leads to an infection in the gum tissues that can eventually cause the gums to recede and pull away from the teeth. This may result in bone loss and tooth loss.

+ White Fillings

A dental filling is one of the most basic restorations we provide at Carman Family Dentistry. Fillings are typically used when a tooth has experienced minor to moderate decay or another form of damage. At our office, we offer white fillings, which are made of a material called composite resin. To place a white dental filling in Endicott, New York, our dentist first removes the decay from the tooth. Once he has cleaned the tooth, he fills it with composite resin. The resin is applied in layers, sculpted to fit the shape of your tooth, and then hardened and polished. Dr. Mike will make certain that your filling fits the contours of your tooth and matches your bite for a lasting, comfortable, and aesthetic restoration.

+ Orthodontics for Adults & Children

Are your teeth crowded and overlapped? Is your smile flawed by spaces and gaps in between teeth? Do you wish you could correct your crooked teeth? If so, our dentist may recommend orthodontics for your smile. Orthodontics focuses on correcting irregularities in the smile, particularly in how the teeth fit and function together. We are proud to provide orthodontics in Endicott, New York, for both adults and children.

+ Full & Partial Dentures

With our natural-looking, secure dentures, you can feel confident once again when you eat, speak, smile, and laugh. We offer two main types of dentures at Carman Family Dentistry, and Dr. Mike will help you determine which kind is right for your needs. A full denture is used when all of the teeth in the dental arch have been removed or lost. A partial denture, on the other hand, is used when some of your natural teeth still remain. The partial denture is typically held in place by clasps or a thin framework.

+ Endodontics (Root Canal Therapy)

Endodontics is the branch of dentistry focused on the study and treatment of the inner tissues of the tooth, namely the dental pulp. The pulp is the innermost layer of the tooth, and it consists of the tooth nerves, blood vessels, and other tissues. When this dental pulp becomes damaged or infected, it can cause the tooth to become painful and very sensitive. You may also notice the gums becoming swollen and tender. If not properly treated, this infection may eventually kill the tooth and necessitate tooth extraction. In order to avoid this and restore the health of the tooth, you may require endodontic treatment. The most common form of endodontic treatment is root canal therapy.

+ Emergency Dentistry

When you or a family member experiences a dental emergency, you may feel panicked and unsure of what to do. If a dental emergency occurs, we urge you to contact our dental office as soon as possible. Simply call us at 607-748-7328 and we will schedule an appointment to see you as soon as we can. Our dentist and dental team understand that you cannot always plan when you will need to see us, and we strive to accommodate emergency situations as soon as possible. A dental emergency may include one or more of the following:

  • A knocked-out tooth
  • A chipped or broken tooth
  • A lost or damaged restoration, such as a crown or filling
  • Injuries of the soft tissues of the mouth, including the tongue, gums, lips, and cheeks
  • A partially knocked-out (extruded) tooth
  • A fractured tooth
  • An object stuck between your teeth that does not come loose with gentle flossing
  • A severe, lasting toothache or tooth pain
  • + Same-day Lab Repairs

If your dental restoration or appliance becomes damaged or broken, we encourage you to contact us at Carman Family Dentistry. In many cases, we are able to provide same-day lab repairs so your smile can stay healthy and beautiful. Dr. Mike and our team know that a damaged restoration can disrupt your ability to eat and speak as normal, as well as make you feel self-conscious about your appearance. In some cases, the broken appliance or restoration can also cause significant discomfort or pain. We are pleased to provide same-day lab repairs in Endicott, New York, to fix your smile.
